Earth

The mission is simple – Bring our company to negative carbon emissions as soon as possible. It’s something the world needs & everyone should strive for daily. At Mycelium Networks we are a work in progress when it comes to sustainability. We try our best to make constant improvements when it comes to helping mother earth. We take as many steps as needed to do what we can to help. We’re constantly looking for new innovative avenues & partnerships when it comes to sustainability.

Carbon Footprint

Mycelium is committed to building a sustainable ecosystem for our business and the planet.

Sustainable Energy

Mycelium is doing its part to contribute to this goal. We utilize as many power-efficient approaches as we can, including determining the equipment that powers our future networks with energy use as a significant consideration. And through the rollout of our upcoming Earth energy initiatives, Mycelium Networks will be a Carbon-Negative force in the world before the end of 2021.

What We Measure
Three models work together to provide a detailed view of our footprint.

  • Transportation – We track the emissions resulting from transportation involved for network operations to and from our partners’ locations and our Factory. By 2022, we anticipate moving over to a fully electric (EV) and carbon-free transportation system.
  • Electricity – We account for the impacts of the energy consumed by our Factory, distributed workplaces, and with the technology we use everyday, including all of our network equipment. Not only is our Factory fully LED and energy efficient, our choice of network equipment has minimal power and bandwidth use.
  • Paperless – We look carefully at all the materials we use and processes behind all our our efforts in deploying networks of the future. We strive for a paperless society so that trees can serve us the way they do best: for clean air instead of more paper.

Sustainable Energy

The definition of Sustainable Energy is energy use systems that are sustainable on planet Earth into perpetuity. It means that energy doesn’t count as sustainable if it runs out in a few hundred years. Burning fossil fuels is obviously not a form of sustainable energy use. However, there is no unlimited energy source alone that solves all of our problems. In fact, the best way to look at sustainable energy is to accept the notion that energy itself is sustained. It cannot be either created or destroyed, but it can take many forms. Over the history of humankind, we have stumbled upon alternative energy sources, including electricity, solar, and nuclear power. We believe that the key to a truly sustainable energy future on planet Earth is to develop systems in which our energy sources integrate in a way that provides a reliable, sustainable system for the world.
